kain na/mangan ta na, 2024
The words ‘kain na’ (Tagalog) and ‘mangan ta na’ (Kapampangan) are a part of the everyday gestures that remind me of generational love and care. This mixed-media collage pairs photographs of my grandparent’s home with handwritten notes from my family. By layering each of these elements, I created a family archive that preserves the memories of gathering together to share a meal.  Kain na and mangan ta na translate to “Let’s Eat”

Crushed rice grains, banana leaves, paper
